World Hepatitis Day – 29 July 2016

Moray Health & Social Care Partnership and Quarriers, Arrows service are hosting an event to raise awareness of, and to promote The World Hepatitis Day 2016 campaign.
 “World Hepatitis Day (WHD) brings the world together to raise awareness of the huge burden of viral hepatitis and to influence real change in disease prevention and access to testing, treatment and care.”
This campaign is officially recognised by the World Health Organization.
On the 29th of July 2016 10am – 4pm, The Outreach Mobile Information Bus will be parked on the Plain Stones, High Street, Elgin with a team of specialist staff on board. This event is open to the public particularly for those who may have been at risk of viral hepatitis. 95% of people living with viral hepatitis don’t know they have the virus (please see attached poster) WHD Poster
There will be the opportunity to:
• Find out more about viral hepatitis. What it is and how to prevent contracting the viruses
• Dispel myths around testing & treatment. Access Dry Blood Spot Testing for Hepatitis B, C & HIV.
• Find out more about vaccination and treatments.
• Receive information on local and regional services (Arrows, community pharmacy needle exchange services and sexual health services)
